Customising Text in Corjl

If you have never used Corjl, I can tell you that it is one of the more user friendly FREE editing software programs online.

Let me show you the basics of customising Text in Corjl, so you can begin personalising your template.

The editing works on all devices including phones and tablets but for the best results,

I recommend editing on a computer browser (MAC or PC).  Preferably via a Chrome browser!

Zooming in & Out

Some of my designs have tiny tiny writing.  Mostly ingredients and care details.  To read these, it might be best to zoom in and out using the Zoom Function at the top of the screen.

If you have to edit and add in text to the template, I recommend you type this up in another document to review first.  As it can be more difficult to do so once it is in the template.

Editing Tools

To your right there will be a Tool Panel. This will have all the tools you need to personalise your design!

Adding more text

If you would like to add in more text, you can ‘Add Text Box’.

Drag the text bounding box to where you would like the text to live.  Use the transformation points on the bounding box to click and drag to resize.

Change the color of your text

Select the Layer you want to change.

Highlight the text you want to change and select the color palette box.  Choose your preferred color.  Or enter in the HEX value of the color you need.

Don’t know the HEX value of your brand colors so you can match it perfectly?

Style your text

There are a few different functions available under the Style Text dropdown.

I recommend using these with caution.  All my templates are designed to be aesthetically correct in size and format for packaging.  Changes will impact the overall design and change the flow of the content.

Drop Shadow – Select the text you want to add a drop shadow to, then click on Style Text in the tools panel and select Drop Shadow from the drop-down menu. Change the color, offsets and blur of the shadow.

Stroke (outline) – Select the text you want to add an outline to, then click on Style Text in the tools panel and select Stroke from the drop-down menu. Change the color, distance (thickness) and opacity of the outline.

Outer Glow – Select the text you want to add a glow to, then click on Style Text in the tools panel and select Outer Glow from the drop-down menu. Change the color and distance (thickness) of the glow.

Gradient – Select the text to which you want to add the gradient, then click on Style Text in the tools panel and select Gradient from the drop-down menu. Select a start and end color in the color boxes (or choose Transparent), then adjust the angle of the gradient using the circular dial.

Curved – Select the text you want to curve and select either a full Circle shape or an Arc. Adjust the degree of curve you want with the slider tool.

Opacity – Select the text you want to make transparent, then click on Style Text in the tools panel and select Opacity from the drop-down menu. Enter a number or use the slide bar adjust the opacity.

Rotation – Select the text box you wish to rotate and use the slider to rotate the text the desired amount. You can also rotate text by hovering the mouse over the small white circle at the top of the text box until a circular arrow appears and circling the mouse.

Blend Mode – Change how text and graphics blend with the background or other elements by using a different “blend mode.” You can choose from the following blending options from the Blend Mode drop-down box: Multiply, Screen, Overlay, Darken, Lighten, Color Dodge, Color Burn, Hard Light, Soft Light, Difference, or Exclusion.
